Meet Sophie our Learn to Swim Instructor!
Sophie Pellerin was born and raised in Barrie, ON, having grown up with two teachers for parents. As a child, she lived just down the street from her grandmother’s day care, so she spent much of her time between there and her parents’ classrooms. Her first exposure to teaching was tutoring younger kids in French in Grade 5 – today, she attends the University of Ottawa and is working towards becoming a teacher herself.
Her swimming career began early on as well, having started learning to swim at just five months old. She did competitive swimming as a child and began instructing swimming lessons at the age of sixteen. Today, Sophie plays for the GG’s water polo team. For her, the water is where she’s most comfortable.
In the classroom (wherever it may be!), the most rewarding part of helping kids learn to swim is seeing the progress her students make. In the pool, she finds it remarkable how quickly students can master new skills. Aside from teaching, Sophie is also a travel bug, having been to Europe several times and lived abroad in Spain! Her strength in teaching comes from her caring, warm personality.
Sophie looks forward to seeing how quickly your child can progress in the water!
